Early Failure of Locking Compression Plates in Pediatric Proximal Femoral Fracture

چکیده
Background: Although proximal femoral locking compression plates (PF-LCP) have been used with increasing frequency in the fixation of fractures pediatric population, there is a lack literature regarding their use. The purpose this study was to examine failure rates PF-LCP comparison other accepted methods within population. Methods: Retrospective review identified consecutive children treated for from September, 2008 February, 2019, who had minimum follow-up 12 weeks. Patient charts and radiographs were reviewed, demographic information compiled. In case failures, timing method documented. Results: Sixty-four (61 children) studied. average age at time presentation 10.4 years. Twenty-six PF-LCPs 38 (compression hip screws, rigid locked intramedullary nailing, cannulated or combination screw side plate nailing). Failure occurred four 26 plating (15.4%), compared none types (p<0.05). Conclusions: This demonstrates an increased risk (12.9%) 0% (no failures). As result study, we no longer use systems neck our institution.

Proximal femoral locking compression plate for proximal femoral fractures.
PURPOSE To review short-term outcomes of proximal femoral locking compression plate (PF-LCP) fixation for proximal femoral fractures in terms of postoperative complications and failure rates. METHODS Medical records of 21 men and 5 women aged 22 to 85 (mean, 49.7) years who underwent internal fixation with the PF-LCP for proximal femoral fractures were reviewed. Younger patients (mean age, 38...
متن کاملOutcome of pertrochantric fracture of the femur treated with proximal femoral locking compression plate.
Pertrochantric femoral fractures are one of the most common fracture in old patients with variety of complications. However fixing Pertrochantric femoral fractures properly is clinically challenging. We report the outcome of pertrochantric femoral fractures treated with Proximal Femoral Locking Compression Plate (PFLCP) using Minimal Invasive Percutaneous Plate Osteosynthesis (MIPPO) techniques...
متن کاملUse of Locking Plates in Fracture Management
The history of fracture management can be traced back to the prehistoric times. It was not until the late nineteenth and early twentieth century that operative treatments of fractures were contemplated. However operative treatment of fractures at that time was associated with devastating results secondary to infection with high morbidity and mortality. As a result, the mainstay of treatment of ...
متن کاملReverse distal femoral locking compression plate a salvage option in nonunion of proximal femoral fractures
BACKGROUND When primary fixation of proximal femoral fractures with implants fails, revision osteosynthesis may be challenging. Tracts of previous implants and remaining insufficient bone stock in the proximal femur pose unique problems for the treatment. Intramedullary implants like proximal femoral nail (PFN) or surface implants like Dynamic Condylar Screw (DCS) are few of the described impla...
متن کاملLocking plates in proximal humerus fractures.
It is well known that proximal humerus fractures are among the three most frequent fracture types. Epidemiological invetsigations show that in people elder than 60 years the fracture of the proximal humerus is more frequent than fractures of the hip region (17). Over the last decades several techniques have been applied for treatment of proximal humerus fractures. Widely accepted is the initiat...
